Nice post, I've learned some new bits of knowledge from you.

Lots of today's practicioners of fighting systems learn or teach that long-range fighting (such as kickboxing) is not effective against someone with some training in grappling arts.

That's why clinching moves like elbow strikes are of utmost importance - they're a middle ground between stand-up fighting and groundfighting, wrestling, or clinch techniques.

However, most of all what I learn from your articles is that I need more practice. Thanks.

Dennis,
I hope you and yours are well. I wish you a happy, successful and healthy 2010. Our good buddy Carl passed alone your new site address and I thought I'd drop you a line. I'm so glad to see that you're still on top of your game and looking "marvelous", as they say. BTW, I was just in Jamaica hanging out with Carl and his new son last month.

We continue to train daily and our Canadian Ninja Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Fellowship is still going strong for some 40 years now. A bit of news, after 36 years of training with the Fellowship I was deeply honoured three years ago to be appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors. I have provided the Fellowship address so you can see what we've been up to since you moved. Photos of our annual summer seminar, we call Summinar, are in Current Affairs and in Training Systems follow the Kali-Jitsu link to see some pics from the past decades.

Take care my friend.
Yours in the Arts,
Ray

Dennis - Great job on your accomplishments!

My name is Tammy. I am Trena Horwath's sister in Michigan. My husband and I are studying Hakko Denshin Ryu Ju-Jutsu under World Master, Shihan Garner Train. Two of our sons just started going to the dojo with us last week.

My family would be very honored, if at some time when we are in Canada for a visit, if it would be possible to meet you and learn more about the different arts that you study!

Again, congratulations!
